“It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to announce that I have donated my bank/insurance building at 21 Merchants Row to the Swanton Historical Society. The purpose of this gift is to provide for a historical museum, and to provide permanent offices for the Society. But more importantly, for [the society] to protect the building, preserve the building, improve the building, and to take it into the future as the pride of the Swanton village/town community. The History of 21 Merchants Row
Built in 1851, this building is particularly notable because it is the only Greek-Revival commercial building in Swanton. For many years this building served as the home of a local insurance company but today is no longer in use.
