Swanton Covered Bridge - 1895 to 1987

The former St. Johnsbury and Lamoille Railroad bridge, built in 1895, was approximately 369 ft in length. It was retired in 1967, listed on the National Register in 1973, and lost to arson in 1987. Today, the site is part of Swanton’s bike and recreation trail and uses trusses from the former West Milton Bridge.
